By video calling Sheikh Mohammed Rashid, a ruler of the international space dynasty, UAE astronaut Sultan Al-Niyadi made history.

Arab media report that Sultan Al-Niyadi, an astronaut from the United Arab Emirates, has joined the International Space Team following a four-day journey of 24 hours aboard the SpaceX Dragon capsule from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Before the video call, Sultan al-Niyadi was referring to NASA TV's live link to the space centre on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Beach.

In what will be the longest space mission in the history of the Arab world, UAE astronaut Sultan Al Niyadi will spend the next six months in space.

"We thank God for your safe arrival at the International Space Station," Sheikh Mohammed said to Al Nayadi upon his arrival at the International Space Station. The youth of the United Arab Emirates and the Arab world look up to you.

During the scientific mission, Sheikh Muhammad and Sultan al-Niyadi also talked about different kinds of experiments.

Sultan Al Niyadi, 41, of the United Arab Emirates, will take part in more than 200 experiments that will help Earthlife and prepare for the possibility of life beyond Earth's orbit.

Some of the experiments will look at how certain materials burn in microgravity, how the heart, brain, and cartilage work, and how biological samples can be collected from outside the space station.
